    Abstract

Ghana's Fourth Republic has been marked by a stable and thriving democracy since its inception in 1992. The Fourth Republic began after a series of military governments and coups in the country's history. Ghana's democracy has proven its mettle under the Fourth Republic by upholding democratic principles such as the Rule of Law, free and fair elections, freedom of expression and association, a multi-party system, political tolerance, separation of powers, and effective participation. Despite its commendable success over the past 30 years, there are still some critical challenges that need to be addressed, including low participation, corruption, favoritism, nepotism, extreme political polarization, winner-takes-all mentality, and politicization of illegal mining (Galamsey). This paper aims to establish the undeniable relationship between democracy and economic liberalization and suggests remediation strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of Ghana's democracy by thoroughly reviewing relevant literature.

    Abstract

The article adopts three theoretical frameworks to explore the intricacies of "power." His discourse ethics contradict Habermas's belief in oppressive power. Free speech and ethical debates disregard power, contrary to Foucault's claim that the two are intrinsically related. Contrary to Foucault's insistence that power and history were inseparably linked, Habermas argued that one might seek truth apart from the other. There are two perspectives on power in Bourdieu's dialectical materialism: the subjective and the objective. Work is controversial, relevant, and dynamic, in his view. Habitus symbolism may shed light on the ways in which players unwittingly adhere to social norms. On one point, Bourdieu differs with Habermas: power is something that happens in society and in people's lives. Bourdieu uses Marx's theory of power to promote equality and comprehend social stratification. Ideologies of dominating power impact academics' problem-solving and report-writing. In contrast to Habermas's power-seeking consciousness, Bourdieu's practice-based, sophisticated perspective goes beyond structures and individuals. The disciplinary power of Foucault exposes patterns of covert speech, in opposition to Habermas's aim for free speech principles. The term "power" covers a wide range of events with various features; therefore, picking the correct theory to examine is vital.

    Abstract

The purpose of this research is to provide an in-depth description of the business management carried out by the Prophet Muhammad. The research method that has been used in collecting and analyzing the data of this research is qualitative with the type of literature review whose main sources are books and journals related to the business management of the Prophet Muhammad. The results of this literature study suggest that the Prophet Muhammad taught his ummah to be successful in running a business by expecting four main traits namely shidiq, amanah, fathanah, and tabligh. These four traits also apply in carrying out all activities of life in the world. This is what makes the Prophet Muhammad the most perfect human being, and a role model for humanity. In modern times, when all technology is growing rapidly, a businessman should ideally be able to manage his business better because it is supported by various facilities that are more adequate than in the time of the Prophet Muhammad. The implications of the research findings regarding the life of the Prophet Muhammad in business management which is full of Islamic values can make an example for all mankind so that they can be successful with the radiance of commendable morals in business.

    Abstract

Migration, a large-scale phenomenon of the 21st century, can be viewed from several perspectives, both at the microeconomic and macroeconomic levels. On the one hand, migration represents the cornerstone for the construction of personal well-being, in a world guided by political interests, and on the other hand, migration is that element that can produce major imbalances, when it is not properly managed. The objective of this article is to provide a detailed analysis of the issue of migration, but also of its effects, on the citizens, but also on the countries of origin and destination. In fact, it is intended to demonstrate the beneficial consequences that migration has on humanity, but also to mitigate its negative impact, by finding viable solutions. To test the formulated hypotheses, a research methodology will be used, which consists in the study of divergent opinions, from the specialized literature, trying to find the key points, for which there are often antagonistic visions regarding migration and development. Thus, the theme will be presented, from a conceptual perspective, which will show all the aspects in which migration exerts its influence on a state and its population. As a result of the research, it was concluded that migration can be a premise of socio-economic development, only when it falls within a certain limit and when the states manage it effectively. Otherwise, it becomes a threat to economic growth, which can increase regional disparities even more.

    Abstract

This paper examines knowledge explosion, knowledge production and peer review trends in some social science locations. The research design is exploratory. It is held in the work that knowledge explosion in some paradoxical trajectories possesses integral challenges. Some of these intrinsic questions of knowledge explosion border on evolutionary tendencies in knowledge production. The next research variable inherent in the knowledge production component of the work is peer review. The paper consequently identifies some untoward trends in social science peer review in the focus-locations. The trend-observations in the paper are not in any way exhaustive. The work thus proposes further research undertakings on the subject matter, in continuity of the embedded debates.

    Abstract

This research explored the possession of Science Process Skills (SPS) by basic science teachers as a perspective from Nigeria as a function of gender, teaching experience and teaching qualification. Three research questions guided the study and three hypotheses were tested at 0.05 alpha level. Descriptive survey research design was used in the study. The population comprised 178 Basic Science Teachers in all the 266 public secondary schools in the six education zones of Anambra state. No sampling was done because it is small and manageable. The instrument used for data collection was Science Process Skill Test (SPST). The reliability of SPST was established using Kuder richardson formular 21 (KR21), which yielded coefficient of internal consistency of .89. Research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation while t-test and ANOVA was used to test the null hypotheses. The findings of the study showed that gender has significant influence in the possession of Science process skills. Surprisingly, it was found that the perception and social convention that males are stronger than females in science appears not to be the case among basic science teachers. It also showed that there was no significant difference in the possession of Science Process Skills based on teaching experience and teaching qualification. Therefore, it was concluded basic science teachers can possess SPS irrespective of their teaching experience and qualification and it is a matter of individual differences. It was recommended that the government, managers and administrators of education in Nigeria should create a forum that will bring these teachers together and provide them the opportunity to improve (periodic training) on Science Process skills. Employment of basic science teacher should be gender friendly.

    Abstract

Institutional capacity is the primary key factor to ensure efficient and effective land service delivery. Despite several endeavours made by successive Ethiopian governments, most institutions are still lacking the required capacity to deliver responsive, transparent, competitive, and quality services to their respective clients. The article, hence, is aimed at establishing the capacity associated challenges deterring the efficient and effective delivery of land services in Ethiopia specifically emphasizing on Land Management and Development Bureau of Addis Ababa. To achieve the objective, descriptive research and explanatory design and mixed approach were applied. The data were collected from the main office and five sub-city administration offices using Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions, and questionnaire. The gathered data were analysed qualitatively and quantitatively using thematic and SPSS Version 23 software. The study result indicates that though there are individual capacity building attempts, it is proven that there is inadequate motivation, staff support, and supervision. Even though, proper land service delivery requires the existence of far-sighted, forward-looking and strategic leadership, the research findings established the existence of serious problem to this end. Furthermore, adequate collaboration and cooperation among different units is also missing. The performance management system is also deficient. Based on the research findings, the authors concluded that the organization is not sufficiently capacitated to deliver efficient, effective, and responsive land services to their clients. To mitigate the challenges, building leadership capacity and commitment, providing demand-driven and need-based training, creating a collaborative work environment and team sprit are suggested as pertinent intervention measures.

    Abstract

Institutional transformation is a complex process that necessitates meticulous planning and management. As a result, it is imperative that an institution establishes effective leadership that will best steer the institution toward the desired objectives. Higher education and training is one sector that identified the need for transformation of its public tertiary institutions because of historical inequalities and imbalances, particularly with historically disadvantaged institutions. Universities are viewed as a driving force for social, political, and economic transformation. The state government's transition to a democratic regime shaped policies and took into account components of global trends. This magnitude prompted research on the behaviour and perspective of leadership on institutional transformation of a historically disadvantaged institution (HDU). The University of Limpopo as one of the institutions in South Africa that is catogrised under the previously disadvantaged was used as a case study for this research. The study used an exploratory sequential mixed-method approach that relied equally on primary and secondary data collection. Questionnaires, interviews, document analysis, and past publications were used to collect data that contributed to the study's conclusions. The findings of the study clearly show that effective leadership is a key factor in attaining the institution's transformational goals. The conclusions revealed that the institution's leadership should adopt a full transformational style of leadership qualities to ensure effective institutional transformation. This will provide the institution with greater opportunities and broaden its impact on society.

    Abstract

The retention of high-quality teachers is an universal challenge that consistently impedes the attainment of educational objectives. In order to tackle this problem, it is necessary to employ innovative psychological approaches that promote the retention of teachers in public schools. This study investigates how psychological capital acts as a mediator between work engagement and teachers’' satisfaction with human resource retention procedures. There is a lack of studies that investigate the relationship between work engagement, psychological capital, and human resource retention policies in public high schools, despite the considerable amount of study conducted on each of these factors individually. In order to address this lack of study, a quantitative research method was employed, utilising a cross-sectional survey design to gather data from 309 high school teachers in South Africa. The study findings emphasise the important role of psychological capital in mediating the positive association between work engagement and satisfaction with human resource retention methods among teachers. These findings have practical implications for the creation of initiatives to strengthen teachers' psychological capital resources, which can in turn enhance their work engagement and satisfaction with human resource retention policies.

    Abstract

The need to improve the performance of students in selected science subjects necessitated this study. Study behaviour are learning tendencies that influence performance either positively or negatively. The study investigated the study behaviour of secondary school students in relation to their achievement in selected science subjects (biology, chemistry and computer studies). The study adopted correlational descriptive research design. The population comprised of all science students in senior secondary schools in Anambra State. Purposive sampling technique was used to select senior secondary two (SS2) students because they have been exposed to selected science subjects and they are not examination class. Simple random sampling balloting without replacement was used to select one hundred and eighty (180) science students in senior secondary two (SS2) schools drawn from two educational zones were biology, chemistry and computer studies are offered in external examination in the state. The population also constituted the sample. Two instruments were used for data collection- a study behaviour inventory and the second was the test scores of students in the respective science subjects from their second term examination results. Mean and standard deviation were used for analysis. The results revealed that students have good study behaviour with reference to all the study behavior examined. It was recommended amongst others that teachers should adopt teaching strategies that will promote students’ meaningful learning of science subjects.

    Abstract

One of the fundamental human rights is education. Since education benefits all citizens, regardless of nationality, it has become an essential subject of discussion on a global scale. International conventions highlight the right to education for refugees. However, refugees faced various barriers to education in their host countries. This study's main objective was to examine the barriers to access to refugee women’s education in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The study used a descriptive phenomenological design to achieve its objective. A semi-structured interview guide was used to conduct interviews with thirteen Yemeni refugee women. Purposive sampling was used to select study participants. Using a descriptive phenomenological analysis, the data was analyzed. The study's findings revealed that language and limited income were the major barriers to access to refugee women’s education. Refugee women’s children also faced barriers to access to education, such as language barriers, interrupted education, schools’ reluctance to admit them, and bullying and discrimination at school. Concerned parties have to take action to get rid of the obstacles that prevent refugee women from accessing education.

    Abstract

People have been communicating since the beginning of time in different ways. Communication and understanding have taken many and varied forms over time, but what has been achieved in recent decades has far surpassed thousands of years of human communication and connection. It is about the complex modalities made available by the digital age and all the mechanisms developed in its wake. Radio, television, telephone and internet have revolutionised the world of communication and stretched the boundaries people had in this respect. Modern means of communication have rapidly overtaken letters, for example, and taken communication to new heights. In this research, we conduct an analysis of how people communicate through social platforms, as well as the language they use. The article could be beneficial for communication specialists as well as researchers in the field of social and human sciences.

    Abstract

The ability to speak has led to the development of society and changes in social evolution. Later, writing and portable devices exerted a significant influence, especially in the context of the expansion and diversification of social structures and the evolution of culture. New communication technology facilitated the invention of the printing press by Gutenberg and thus a communication evolution. And now, “we are already seeing the first steps towards immersive journalism, with journalists working in large global media organizations already using virtual and augmented reality to explain better certain stories and to attract a wider readership” (Stănescu, G. C., 2022). In terms of the role of communication in society, the sociology of communication has been continuously developed and evolved since the 1960s. Emilian M. Dobrescu argues in Sociology of Communication (1998, p. 20) that while the sociology of communication focuses on investigating the social consequences of the act of communication, the sociology of communication is devoted to the study of communication channels and their impact on human society. Institutional communication is the defining feature of any organisation, public or private. The effectiveness of institutional communication has a significant impact on the relationship with its audience and how it is perceived. In this context, media monitoring becomes an essential tool in institutional communication efforts. This paper aims to explore the importance of media monitoring in the context of institutional communication, highlighting its role in assessing impact and adapting communication strategies. Media monitoring and analysis is an approach of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to provide decision support and expertise for both the leaders of the Ministry of Interior and the specialists responsible for public communication. These activities involve dealing with general concepts of media monitoring and analysis, with an emphasis on the specifics of these activities within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, starting from the idea of media review in organisations.

    Abstract

The rapid proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in journalism presents unprecedented ethical challenges that necessitate a robust framework for responsible implementation. This study synthesizes existing literature on AI ethics in journalism to propose the VALET (Verify, Accountability, Literacy, Ethics, Transparency) framework. Through a comprehensive review of peer-reviewed articles, we identified key ethical concerns and best practices in AI-assisted journalism. Our findings indicate a significant gap between theoretical ethical principles and their practical application in newsrooms. The VALET framework addresses this gap by providing actionable guidelines for journalists and media organizations. It emphasizes rigorous fact-checking of AI-generated content, clear lines of accountability, ongoing AI literacy training, ethical decision-making processes, and transparent disclosure of AI use to audiences. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on AI ethics in media by offering a pragmatic approach to integrating AI technologies while preserving core journalistic values. Future research should empirically test the efficacy of the VALET framework in various journalistic contexts and explore its adaptability to emerging AI technologies.
